BLDC (Brushless DC) motors use electronic commutation via a motor controller rather than mechanical brushes and commutator, eliminating brush wear and radio-frequency interference. In elevator applications, BLDC motors are most commonly used in door operator drives (150–400 W range) where their high torque-to-inertia ratio enables fast, accurate door speed profiles.
